This course will outline the basics of sterile processing for medical and dental offices as well as clinics and ambulatory healthcare facilities. Students will review general infection control concepts as well as the processes required for the safe disinfection and/or sterilization of equipment and instruments.
At the end of this course the student will be able to list the four stages of sterile processing, describe the three levels of disinfection as per the Spaulding classification, discuss the importance of IFUs, list the three conditions that would render sterile equipment unusable.
