Healthcare facilities must assess and periodically reassess each patient’s risk for falling, including the potential risk associated with the patient’s medication regimen. Organizations must also address any identified risks of falling. Patents are not the only ones at risk for falls with injury. OSHA has requirements for hospitals to reduce the potential for staff falls and injuries as well. In this course, the student will learn about the danger of patient falls, how to incorporate a falls assessment and prevention program into patient safety activities, and steps to take to prevent staff injuries from falls.
